  • Unsuitable hosting configuration settings.

  • The firewall on your system is blocking incoming and outgoing communication on the server computer.

  • Any issue with the DNS server can also cause the error to come.

  • The error occurs when the QB can not obtain the IP address of the host system or server holding the company file.

  • On the server system, certain internal QuickBooks services like QuickBooksDBXX or QBCFMonitor are not active.

How to fix the QuickBooks error H202?

To fix the error manually, you can check the services on your system and configure firewall and internet settings. The other methods to fix the error are given below:

Method 1: Configure your Firewall Settings for QB Desktop

Here, you have to ensure that the firewall settings on the server computer are not blocking QuickBooks form accessing the company file. You have also to set the firewall permissions and then open your QuickBooks in the multi-user mode.

Method 2: Reset your QuickBooks Database Server Manager

  • First, type services.msc into the Run window, then click OK.

  • Press the Stop button after choosing QuickBooksDB19 (2009), QuickBooksDB18 (2008), or QuickBooksDB17 (2007).

  • After selecting the Start button with a right-click, close the window.

  • List the file formats and their extensions.

  • After pressing the Windows Start button to the right, choose to Explore > Tools > Folder Options.

  • By choosing the View tab, you may uncheck the item that says Hide extensions for known file types.

  • Again, uncheck the box next to Hide protected operating system files after once more choosing the Show hidden files and folders option from the View menu.

  • In the Warning window, select Yes, then hit OK.

  • For the final step, shut down Windows Explorer.


Method 3: Test your Network Connectivity

For this step, you have to ping your workstation that is having the H202 error to check the network connectivity.

  • To ping the server, first open the Run window from the Windows Search bar.

  • Then, in the Run window, you need to type the word cmd and hit Enter.

  • Here, you need to enter the ping[servername] command to ping the server name from your workstation and then press the Enter key.

  • If the connection is good, then you will receive a response else you have to check your internet connectivity.
